AuthoringΒΆ
Content authored using the OU Book Theme is rendered from files written in MyST (Markedly Structured Text), a simple but expressive plain-text tagging format to produce interactive scientific articles and textbooks on the web.
This guide only introduces a very small subset of MyST, deemed to be the most useful for authoring modules. There are often different ways in MyST to achieve the same or similar formatting effects. This guide only explains one way, to reduce the learning curve for the module team, critical readers and editors, and to achieve a consistent look for students.
Tip
In this guide, boxes like this one are recommendations, not requirements. The aim is to help establish a similar range of practices across modules, to reduce cognitive load for academics, CMs and editors who move across teams.
